Throughout my life, I’ve captured and lost countless memories. Before cloud storage was even viable, photos disappeared, hard drives failed, and moments I wish I could revisit are simply gone. As I got older, I started regretting that I didn’t take every step to protect those memories better.
When I got married, everything changed. I was building new memories with my wife, and I felt a deeper need to preserve them. We turned to popular cloud storage providers like everyone else, but I quickly realized something troubling: the pricing models are structured to extract as much money as possible. What starts as affordable becomes expensive fast, and using these services for a lifetime? Not feasible.
Then we got a puppy. Suddenly, every moment felt even more precious. Every silly photo, every milestone, every ordinary day became something worth protecting. That’s when it hit me: what I need is affordable, private cloud storage for memories—and I’m betting there are millions of people who feel the same way.
So I decided to build it.
The Problem with Cloud Storage Today
If you’ve ever used cloud storage, you know the frustrations:
- Surprise bills when you cross invisible storage limits
- Complex pricing tiers designed to confuse rather than clarify
- Privacy concerns about who has access to your personal photos and files
- Vendor lock-in that makes it painful to switch providers
- Hidden costs for features that should be standard
The industry has optimized for profit, not for people. And the ones who suffer are families like yours and mine, just trying to keep their memories safe.
What Makes Abrio Different
We’re building Abrio around five core values:
Affordability – Cloud storage for a lifetime shouldn’t require a fortune. We’re committed to transparent, predictable pricing that won’t surprise you.
Trust & Transparency – No hidden fees, no confusing tiers, no fine print designed to trick you. You’ll always know exactly what you’re paying for and why.
Simplicity – Protecting your memories shouldn’t require a computer science degree. Abrio will be straightforward and easy to use for everyone.
Reliability – Your memories deserve a home you can count on for decades, not just years.
Ownership – Your data is yours. We’re building export-first, which means you can always take your files and leave if you want to. No lock-in, no hostages.
Who Abrio Is For
Abrio is for real people. Families preserving decades of memories. Parents who want their kids to see baby photos years from now. Anyone who’s ever felt the panic of “Did I back that up?”
My wife recently told me something that broke my heart: sometimes she doesn’t record videos of precious moments because she’s trying to save disk space on her phone. Think about that. We’re choosing between capturing memories and managing storage limits. That’s not right.
If you’ve ever:
- Skipped recording a video because your phone storage is full
- Deleted photos to avoid paying for more storage
- Worried about losing precious memories to a hard drive failure
- Been frustrated by confusing cloud storage pricing
- Wanted a simple, honest place to keep your files safe
Then Abrio is for you.
Where We Are Now
We’re still in the early stages of building Abrio, and we’re doing it the right way—listening to real people, focusing on what matters, and refusing to compromise on our values.
Our vision is simple: a place where families can store decades of memories without worry. Affordable enough to use for a lifetime. Private enough to trust with your most precious moments. Simple enough that everyone can use it.
